Towhid Hridoy returned home yesterday following an impressive short stint for Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) – his first appearance in an overseas franchise league.
The top-order batter scored 155 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 135.96 including a match-winning 54 off 39 balls in his very first game against Colombo Strikers.
According to the 22-year-old, it was a new experience in the LPL as he was able learn a lot of things, which will help him in coming days.
“Alhamdulillah. It was a new experience for me and I enjoyed it a lot,” Hridoy told the media upon his return.
“I have learned a lot and I hope it will help me in the coming days. I tried to stick to my process and tried to utilise that whenever I got the opportunity. I tried to stay in my plan and play according to the merit (of the ball),” Hridoy said.
The cricketer from Bogura showed promise after making his international debut for the Tigers in the white-ball formats earlier this year. He said he was a crowd favourite in Sri Lanka, getting a lot of appreciation from the locals.
“I received good support. Whenever, I fielded on the boundary line, everyone recognised me, they always called me Hridoy, Hridoy.”
According to Hridoy, the experience in the LPL will help him get some idea about the grounds and wickets for the upcoming Asia Cup to take place in Sri Lanka and Pakistan later this month.
