Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored fifties to help the Tigers to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka in their first World Cup warm-up match at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Friday.

Liton appeared to have come out of his slump and found rhythm with a 56-ball 61 that was laced with 10 fours, while Tanzid Tamim put away two maximums and as many fours to give the Tigers a rare 131-run opening stand that allowed a solid foundation for them to chase the Lankans’ 263.

For Sri Lanka, left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage, pacer Lahiru Kumara, and leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha scalped one wicket each.

The Tigers will play another warm-up match against England on October 2 before taking on Afghanistan in their opening World Cup fixture on October 7.
