Bangladesh lost opener Mohammad Naim and Najmul Hossain Shanto early in their chase of a modest 127-run total in the third and final ODI against Afghanistan at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.Â
After seven overs, Bangladesh reached 28 for the loss of two wickets.Â
Having already lost the three-match series 2-0, Bangladesh did brilliantly with the ball as Shoriful Islam starred with his career-best four for 21 in nine overs.Â
However, Bangladesh lost their first wicket in just the third over of the game when Naim tried to cut a Fazalhaq Farooqi delivery away from his body and only got an inside edge to his stumps.
Naim, called into the squad in place of regular skipper Tamim Iqbal, walked off without troubling the scorers after playing eight deliveries. Naim failed to make an impact in the second ODI as well, scoring nine off 21 deliveries in the game that Bangladesh lost by a record margin of 142 runs.Â
In the seventh over, Farooqi was hit for a six by Liton Das and a four by Shanto but the Afghan pacer came back strong as he bowled Shanto in that over. The left-hander departed after a 15-ball 11. Â
